East Imperial Gin Jubilee

This February, Auckland will join the ranks of a handful of cities selected to play host to the world's finest gin purveyors.
Prepare to be spoilt for choice gin drinkers, Auckland is scheduled to play host to the annual East Imperial Gin Jubilee.
Joining the likes of Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh, Bangkok and Singapore, 33 bars located around the city will showcase their finest gin cocktails, with in-house mixologists front and centre from February 27 until March 4.
The annual gin festival brings together some of the world’s finest gins, bars and bartenders, and is celebrated by thousands of gin novices and aficionados alike. The aim of East Imperial Gin Jubilee is to bring people together across a range of different venues to explore gin culture and sample creative and inventive variations of the classic Gin and Tonic.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
