Akarua Arrowtown Autumn Festival

Make a beeline down south and enjoy the region’s very best, during a dedicated week of food, fun and entertainment in picturesque Arrowtown.
Come Sunday April 22nd, locals and visitors alike will be treated to Pie, Pint and Pinot Day – a celebration of artisanal pies, wines and craft beer.
Sample the splendours of locally made gourmet pies, paired with a selection of craft beers. If you prefer, sip and savour the stunning range of wines on offer from Akarua.
Bring a picnic rug, sit back and enjoy the entertainment from talented musicians Monty Bevin and The Leaners while soaking up the autumn atmosphere.
While the festival now has around 30 events spanning across 4–6 dedicated days, it still remains a community celebration, with many locals either performing, volunteering or taking part in some way, each and every year.
Enjoy the region's finest food, wine, arts and entertainment offerings in some of the country's most spectacular surrounds.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
