Make a Date and Take a Mate

Ready to catch up with friends for a cheeky drink or two after work? We are too – and our mates at Lion are making it even more enticing by giving you the chance to win food and beverage vouchers for your favourite bar, restaurant or cafe, while giving them your support, with their new Cheers to Your Local promotion.
Cheers to Your Local, a campaign created by Kiwi-brand Lion, uses social media sharing to create a much-needed sense of community and togetherness, encouraging New Zealanders to get out and about again and head to their best-loved local venues. Hospitality owners, operators and staff have been hit hard by the various level restrictions put in place to get through the Covid-19 crisis – so here is our chance to give them some love, while sipping on our favourite drop, catching up with mates and enjoying some delicious food along the way.
Kiwis are being asked to share the content across social media by inviting their friends and families to join them in their favourite locals for a good old catch up, then tag @cheerstoyourlocalnz to go in the draw to win one of fifty $50 food & drink vouchers to spend (you guessed it), locally.
We’ll be sure to get amongst it, supporting local is the only way to go.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
