The Wanaka Wine and Food Festival, known as Ripe, is set to make a grand return to Glendhu Bay on March 23, 2024, featuring a headline performance by the internationally acclaimed eight-piece band, The Black Seeds.
Now in its third year, Ripe continues to be a showcase of Central Otago's finest wine and food producers, complemented by world-class entertainment. The event takes place in the breathtaking setting of Glendhu Bay, offering unparalleled views of Lake Wānaka and the surrounding mountains.
Event Director Nathan White expressed excitement about the upcoming event, promising it to be bigger and better than ever. Premium wineries like Akarua, Quartz Reef, and Maude Wines will be featured alongside a diverse selection of boutique wineries and food vendors from across Central Otago, including new wine brand Mora wines bringing their famous cellar door collaboration with Aritsan Kitchen over the hill from Arrowtown.
The festival has secured The Black Seeds as the headline act, adding to an already fantastic lineup that includes local legends Mojo to wrap up the day with a memorable musical experience.
Presenting partners Ben Taylor and Phil Burke of Forsyth Barr Wānaka highlighted Ripe's success as a major annual event, drawing both local and national audiences. They expressed pride in being associated with an event that showcases the premium wine and food of the Otago region against the backdrop of Lake Wānaka's stunning natural beauty.
Ripe 2024 boasts an impressive lineup of wine, food, markets, music and showcases. Highlights include:
- A diverse music lineup, with The Black Seeds as headliners.
- The Maude Wine Lounge, a VIP area offering a welcome drink, walk-'n-fork style canapés, and a private wine bar.
- Wine and Dine with Akarua, a VIP area featuring canapés and a three-course sit-down meal with matching Akarua wines.
- The Quartz Reef Wines Showcase, including masterclasses with three of New Zealand's leading female sommeliers and more to be announced.
- The Glendhu Social Club by Scapegrace Distilling CO, a Cocktail Bar serving drinks made with Scapegrace’s handcrafted artisan products.
- Brews x Views by Rhyme x Reason, presenting RxR’s popular range of locally brewed craft beer.
