An Evening Celebrating Our 20th Birthday

Birthday spirit filled the room on July 16th along with great company, a sumptuous truffle feast, and exceptional wines.
For twenty years, dish has brought achievable recipe inspiration to homes across the country. To celebrate the major milestone, we invited readers to book a table and join us at Auckland’s stunning Esther Restaurant. Together we shared a sensational truffle dinner created by Sean Connelly and James Laird, and each course was thoughtfully paired with a luscious glass of Nautilus Estate wine.
It was a truly fabulous evening and one that ended on a high as Kool & The Gang’s Celebration rang through the speakers and each guest was served a mini version of our delectable sticky date birthday cake from the cover of the latest issue, before heading home with a special birthday gift of exquisite Riedel glassware.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
