Cyclone Support – How Can We Help?

Cyclone Gabrielle is a devastation that has impacted so many Kiwis across the country and it can sometimes feel difficult to know what you can do to help.
We will actively update this page with donation options as well as local businesses in affected areas that are open and ready to be supported!
“Long before dish was even a magazine, when it was just a kernel of an idea way back in the early 2000s, Hawke’s Bay and the East Coast was nourishing our team with their incredible produce, their wonderful wines, their crazy-good craft brews, their excellent festivals, their eye-popping scenery and of course, their amazing, huge-hearted people.
Sadly as Tuesday February 14th dawned, the devastation unleashed by Cyclone Gabrielle would change the landscape, the people and the economic future of these two regions drastically.
On behalf of our dish team and our readers, we want to express our love and gratitude to the people of Hawke’s Bay and the East Coast and tell you we’re with you.
It’s our turn to nourish you by supporting your businesses online and in-store indeed any way we can. You’ll be on your feet again soon, and we’ll be there with bells on when that happens."

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
