Welcome to The Ned

The Ned brings their ethos to life with an inspiring new campaign.
As a child Brent Marris witnessed first-hand the transformation of Marlborough’s landscape from humble sheep farming to a world-famous wine growing region. His father John led the way in converting the land, with Brent spending many holidays planting vines. After studying winemaking at the distinguished Roseworthy College in Australia, his growing passion was taken to the next step, and, after returning home, Brent became Marlborough’s first born and raised qualified winemaker.
Brent established his career by making renowned wines from Marlborough, leading to his current passion project, The Ned, which he launched in 2006, inspired by his fond memories exploring one of Marlborough’s famous peaks (also known as The Ned). Throughout his childhood it was always a place of adventure to explore and enjoy and, to this day, The Ned is still a place to play, experiment and let possibility flow.
With Brent’s daughter Emma following in her father’s footsteps; attending Roseworthy College and becoming a qualified winemaker, The Ned continues to be proudly family-owned and operated. Furthermore, all those who work for the company are considered family and subsequently, there is care and pride poured into every bottle of wine lovingly produced.
The ethos of The Ned is “Young at Heart”. It is a lifetime’s work, built for generations to come, but all the while remaining young at heart. The wines are grown on vineyards in the Waihopai Valley, a vibrant land where the blues are bluer, the greens greener and the stars shine brighter. A magical place where the days are 2 degrees warmer and the nights 2 degrees cooler. A place where you’re instantly at home but feel like you’re a million miles from anywhere. It’s a place to live fully and to create wines that are not bound by convention but are expressions of the absolute freedom felt here.
Today, Brent and the rest of The Ned family want to instill the brand’s ethos in all of its drinkers. This led to the creation of a new campaign “Let go and feel the Ned”. The campaign is centered around inspiring you to create the moment, the feeling, where people can escape from their everyday stresses and enjoy The Ned. If Brent could invite everyone the world over to experience The Ned, he would. Wherever in the world you enjoy The Ned, the hope is that your first sip will bring you straight to this place. Miles from anywhere, but exactly where you want to be.
