Need to know: Wine Gems

We've heard of whiskey rocks – but wine gems are still a relatively novel concept.
The innovators at Kim Crawford Wines have partnered with luxury home goods company Anna New York by Rababs, to create Kim Crawford Wine Gems – a stylish reimagining of the classic "whiskey stone" for wine.
Harnessing the natural beauty of fluorite stone, when frozen, these limited-edition wine gems act to keep a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc chilled for up to an hour, without diluting the wine’s vibrant flavours – or spoilling its complexities.
For a country the size of New Zealand, we tend to bat above our average in the wine industry with Kim Crawford Wines – fittingly dubbed New World Winery of the Year 2016 at the prestigious Wine Enthusiast awards – the perfect example of this.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
