Drop of the Day – Swiftsure Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

From the sun-soaked shores of Waiheke Island, to the breath-taking peaks of Marlborough and Bannockburn, Swiftsure is a bold new collection from the renowned makers of Man O’ War.
Drawing inspiration from the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island, Swiftsure is here to captivate those that crave adventure, fine wine and epic journeys.
Just as Man O' War captures the maritime influences and diverse terroir of Waiheke Island in the north, Swiftsure Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Bannockburn Pinot Noir reflect the unique landscapes of the south. Swift-running waters have carved pathways through the southern high country for centuries, exposing terrain layered with jagged greywacke rock and ancient schist. It is from these challenging environments, where their family-owned vineyards lie on sub-alpine hillsides and river terraces, that some of the most exceptional wines are crafted.
Praised by Bob Campbell MW in his profile for The Real Review he stated, “Swiftsure is off to a good start with two impressive wines made under the watchful eye of Man O’ War winemaker, Duncan McTavish… McTavish has a reputation for making unconventional wines that reflect both soil and spirit”.
Swiftsure Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
The inaugural release is a true reflection of Marlborough’s vibrant and contrasting beauty, meticulously crafted from select sites to capture the essence of this iconic region. Bursting with aromas; an abundance of tropical fruits, crisp citrus, punchy jalapeño, and fresh herbs this wine showcases the intensity that has made Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc famous the world over. Swiftsure Sauvignon Blanc embodies the purity of its environment, offering freshness and minerality.
Awarded 95 points by Cam Douglas MS he noted, "Acidity is saline and salivating, some very fine fruit tannins and acidity along with lees impacts deliver a lush and textured mouthfeel. Balanced and well made with a long finish."
