Drop of the day - Roaring Meg Chardonnay 2019

May all your easter eggs contain delicious Chardonnay!
Chardonnay lovers will be delighted to discover Roaring Meg Chardonnay has hatched from the colourful array of eggs at Mt Difficulty. These concrete, egg-shaped vessels lend a lovely rich texture to this supple Chardonnay rich in aromas and flavours of nectarine, citrus and jasmine with an underlying hint of stone fruit on the finish.
Roaring Meg wines are crafted by Mt Difficulty to capture the attitude and style of Central Otago. The colourful story of Roaring Meg comes from Central Otago's pioneering past. Discovery of gold in the 1860's attracted many young men to Central Otago in search of their fortune. Following them came a number of enterprising young women equally keen to share in the spoils. Legend has it that Meg was one high spirited lady who made such a fuss while being carried over a rapid, it was named after her.

Roaring Meg Chardonnay is an incredibly versatile partner for the many flavours you may find on your Easter table. It would be particularly wonderful match for roast pork, duck, potato gratin and many desserts.
If Roaring Meg Chardonnay sounds like your kind of Easter egg, find a bottle in your local supermarket or wine store today.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
