Cloudy Bay’s winemakers are determined to capture the essence of Marlborough, bottling the region’s natural beauty, lush vineyards and sunshine. Grapes for this wine come from three sub-regions in the heart of Wairau Valley: Rapaura, Renwick and Brancott Valley. Fruit from each parcel ferments separately before blending, a critical step in maintaining the consistency of Cloudy Bay’s house style. Rather than blending to make more wine, the winemakers go through an intensive process to select the grapes for each year’s Sauvignon Blanc. Sometimes this means whittling down up to 30% of the original production.

The focus, as ever, is on quality. Quality is Cloudy Bay’s promise: not a single bottle leaves the winery unless it is up to standard. From its very first vintage, the quality of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc has revealed New Zealand’s potential and confirmed Marlborough as a world-famous wine region.
