Drop of the Day - Russian Jack Pinot Noir

Russian Jack Pinot Noir is a food friendly wine that pairs well with roast anything, but it goes particularly well with Pan-roasted Chicken Thighs with Grapes and Hazelnuts.

Russian Jack Pinot Noir is a vibrant wine with an deep ruby hue. Aromas of red cherry, strawberries and earthy notes mingle in the glass. A rich, soft palate follows with juicy red fruit complimented by a pleasant acidity and soft, velvety tannins combining to create an elegant, fruit driven Pinot Noir. Very food friendly or perfect to sip on a winter’s evening. We recommend our with Pan-roasted Chicken Thighs with Grapes and Hazelnuts as a pairing.
Russian Jack (1878-1968) was a mysterious & much loved gentleman of the road who was welcomed onto farms around New Zealand and picked fruit into his old age. Long ago, Martinborough was covered in scrub brush. Russian Jack and pioneers like him, known locally as “swaggers,” worked tirelessly to clear the land and prepare it for use. These rich and fertile lands, now covered in picturesque vineyards, produce world class wines thanks in part to the hard work of these pioneering heroes. He is honoured locally by a bronze statue in his memory.
