After spending a decade working as a private chef on superyachts and in private villas across Europe, Lara Hayes noticed there weren't many vinaigrettes made using extra-virgin cold pressed olive oil in New Zealand. She had gotten used to having the European products on hand and felt their absence keenly. Plus, "having spent so much time with French and Italian people sloshing it all over everything" she was convinced of the health benefits of olive oil too.

So she kicked off her business, A Bit Dressy, with No.1 dressings – Classic Tart and Honey Garlic. But it wasn’t long before No.2, - Umeboshi Goodness - was born. It was a hit with vegan customers and anyone looking for a unique bold flavour for their salads. The combination of Japanese umeboshi plums, tahini, ginger and white miso has been a winning combo, According to Lara. "And now there’s a No.3 a Vietnamese edition which will turn any salad into a taste sensation."

"After the success of the dressings I’m doing all kinds of other things. My friends and clients in the Mediterranean have been telling me to do it for years," she says.
The A Bit Dressy website is full of soups, wellness and bone broths (the pho is a firm favourite, she tells) and recently, an array of summer condiments. Lara recommends spicing up your Christmas with her new No.4 Kiwiana Smokey BBQ Sauce and Lara’s Glam Ham Glaze, as well as the Gutsy Spiced Grain Mustard and tasty chutneys. The products are conveniently delivered once a week on Friday or Saturdays – to your door.
