Be in to WIN a Delicious Rutherford & Meyer Prize Pack!
dish are giving two lucky readers the chance to win a Rutherford & Meyer prize pack, valued at $125 each!
Rutherford & Meyer’s origin story is one that speaks of Kiwi ingenuity at its finest.
25 years ago, two entrepreneurial produce farmers near the bottom of New Zealand’s South Island faced a problem. After a bumper harvest, they had too much fruit leftover – and nowhere for it to go. They hated the idea of all that goodness going to waste, so they put their heads - and old family recipes - together and created what are now Rutherford & Meyer’s best-selling Fruit Pastes!

Rutherford & Meyer is now a household name in New Zealand, producing multiple lines of cheese accompaniments: a variety of crackers, honey, fruit spreads and fruit pastes.
In 2019, Rutherford and Meyer began research into a sustainable ingredient for a new range of crackers, and this saw the inception of Upcycled Grain Project (UGP).
Spent brewers’ grain is this sustainable ingredient. Barley grain is used in the steeping process of making beer and, once this is completed, the liquid is used and the grain itself is discarded. UGP was able to find a local brewery from whom it rescues the spent grain. This grain is full of fibre, protein and is naturally sugar free; pairing perfectly with Rutherford & Meyer’s 100% natural ingredients ethos.

In 2020, UGP launched its first product in the UGP range - crackers. Available in two flavours, Rock Salt and Parmesan, the crackers are ’sustainably delicious’ and pair perfectly with soft cheese and Rutherford & Meyer Fruit Pastes.
UGP’s has since extended its range of snacks, adding UP Bars and UP Bites - a healthier, more sustainable alternative to breakfast or muesli bars and bliss balls. Products in the UGP range are all high in fibre and protein, with 100% natural ingredients and they taste great too!

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
