Horowhenua's Tastiest Event

Get your taste buds ready! Tickets are now on sale for the 2018 Horowhenua Taste Trail which brings you a live paddock to plate experience.
Now in its third year, the Horowhenua Taste Trail showcases ten specialist food producers from the area allowing you to go behind the scenes and sample delicious fresh produce directly from the source of this bite-sized district.
This year the experience has been enhanced further and after seeing how the food is produced patrons can enjoy it in a gourmet form with dishes prepared by cafes and restaurants on site.
On top of that, passionate foodies can extend their Taste Trail experience and sign up for a series of Savour Events. These events include experiences such as a Long Table Dinner, a Champagne Breakfast, a Chef’s Talk by Annabelle White, a dairy masterclass by award winning chef Jude Messenger, and a Wind Down Beers and Burgers event.
With ten producers on the trail including Woodhaven Gardens, Genoese Pesto and Levin Eel Trading, you’ll be sure to find something to excite and delight even the most discerning palate.
For more information, see the Taste Trail or on their Facebook Page here.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
