Solving Poverty One Lunchbox at a Time

Eat My Lunch deliver thousands of lunches to hungry school kids every week and they're currently looking to start their own cooking and nutrition school. The best part is, you can help!
Since they launched earlier this year, Eat My Lunch have made thousands of healthy packed lunches, half of which have been delivered to school kids who would have otherwise gone without. Spurred on by a widespread show of support, they're asking for a little more help in order to help as many kids as possible.
Lisa King and Iaan Buchanan teamed up with award-winning chef Michael Meredith to implement their simple scheme: for just $10, those in Auckland can order lunch to be delivered fresh to offices, while another lunch will be delivered to a child from a low decile school.
Currently, the team prepare everything in a home kitchen, but they've just reached their fundraising target of $120,000 to upgrade to a commercial space that's able to roast dozens of chickens and chop thousands of vegetables each week.
Their next goal is to start their own cooking and nutrition school for under-privileged kids – a project Michael is particularly passionate about as it was an class like this where he first learnt to cook after dropping out of school. To bring this to life, Eat My Lunch need to raise a further $25,000 before their PledgeMe campaign ends at 8pm tonight. If you'd like to support the campaign you can donate here.
