Foodie Heaven Awaits

If you're looking for unique foodie experiences that could only be conjured up in your dreams, then it's time to head to F.A.W.C! in Hawke's Bay.
F.A.W.C! Food and Wine Classic Summer 2018 is returning for its seventh year and we couldn’t be more excited. Set in stunning locations across Hawke’s Bay and spanning 10 action packed days, the delectable event will see talented local and national chefs, winemakers and foodies collaborate to produce an impressive array of dishes and experiences.
Most excitingly there will be food masterclasses with a whole host of culinary heroes like Ray McVinnie, Nici Wickes, and Martin Bosley, as well as our very own dish food editor Claire Aldous. On-goers can choose to dine (and even help shuck oysters) with Al Brown at a top secret location, learn to make your own natural face cream with celebrity chef Nici Wickes and Archeus founder Apothecary Georgina Langdale or attend a series of cheese masterclasses with cheese expert Juliet Harbutt.
On top of that, more than twenty Hawke’s Bay wineries, craft breweries and local cideries will also be serving up their wares ensuring a spectacular time for all in the region. And with over 60 events to choose from, there is sure to be something for everyone.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
