Auckland’s Night Noodle Markets are back

Get ready Auckland – the Night Noodle Markets are back this Friday in a big way.
The famous hawker-style festival is open to the public from 4pm between 29 November to 8 December at Victoria Park, featuring traditional and modern offerings from 22 local and international food stalls. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options will also be available, so no one has to miss out on the fun.
Attendees will be slurping on oodles of noodles, biting into bao buns and diving into steamed and fried dumplings galore, with prices ranging from just $5 to $20. Fan-favourite House of Dumplings will be returning, with a menu that includes Cantonese free-range chicken and coriander dumplings and Vietnamese pork kaffir lime and lemongrass dumplings. Vegan options include Japanese six-mushroom and Spanish tofu bok choy. Crepe master Mr Circle will also be back with pork, chicken and tofu Chinese crêpes, while Gelato Messina will be tending to every sweet tooth with options like coconut sticky rice with mango sorbet.
Festival event manager Vanessa Fleming teased some exciting visual elements (including a selfie wall) that’ll surely make this year’s market an unforgettable experience. “Visitors will be entertained by lion dancers, taiko drummers, stilt walkers, costumed performers and a live band. We’re bringing the sights, sounds and flavours of summer under colourful lanterns and you won’t want to miss it.”
With zero waste increasingly on the minds of green Kiwis, the event is aiming to be as accommodating as possible with compostable packing and beverages served in cans and recycled plastic bottles. And, to keep things easy, the event will be entirely cashless, with stallholders accepting major credit and debit cards.
