Drop of the Day - Zephyr Organic Sauvignon Blanc 2020

New release - this pretty, pale green Sauvignon Blanc shines with lime, white currant, lemongrass and salted lemon flavours - the result of Zephyr's first bio-gro certified organic season. It features classic, unadulterated Dillon's Point characters - etheral, yet with a structured savouriness and lively fuit energy that works beautifully alongside our Barbecued Scallops with Miso Dressing.
In the 10 years since the Zephyr Wine brand was launched, reknowned winemaker Ben Glover and his wife Susie have transitioned their family vineyard to organic farming. Excitingly, the 2020 vintage is the first to carry the bio- gro certified organic logo, the extension of Zephyr's journey to express the true, natural flavours of the family farm.
And what gorgeous flavours they are. Along with snow pea and lime skin on the nose, this wine tastes of lemongrass, salted lemon, fennel seed, white currant and lime. It's well worth tasting on its own so you can sip at all those luscious notes, and alongside Barbecued Scallops with Miso Dressing, it absolutely sings.
Winemaker Ben Glover says that this wine has “classic unadulterated Dillon’s Point characters” reflecting this Sub-region in Marlborough; ethereal and lifted with a taut structural savouriness while showing vibrant fruit energy and exquisite purity”.

We start by sharing what’s on the dish team’s radar, what we’re watching, listening to and reading. Harry Butterfield puts a twist on his Nonna’s agnolotti, Malissa Fedele reminds us of the importance of fibre, and Phoebe Holden fulfils a long-held dream, sitting down with Yotam Ottolenghi. Autumn is an abundant time, we make the most with pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, cauliflower, feijoas, apples and pears. We’re dishing up dinners for two, including a Chicken Dumpling Lasagne, alongside easy weeknight meals. We honour our mums, revisit timeless classics, and add a little baking challenge. This issue, we encourage you to slow down, to enjoy writing your shopping list, and spending time in the kitchen. Because even when life feels relentless, there’s always space to share something delicious.
